The return of striker Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan has not been successful, but the Belgium international is starting to show signs of a possible recovery on the eve of his side's hosting of Porto in the first leg of the Champions League final.
After suffering several injuries and being criticised for his form for his country during the World Cup, Lukaku was the ghost of the player who won the Calcio title with Inter in 2021.
Lukaku has played a full 90 minutes in just one game since returning on loan from Chelsea last summer, starting seven times and scoring just 3 goals in all competitions.
On Saturday, Lukaku scored his second league goal of the season, and the first since the opening phase in mid-August, from the penalty spot that paved the way for victory over Udinese.
Dzeko, the first choice to play alongside Lautaro Martinez, who has scored 8 goals in all competitions since returning from World Cup, will be the lethal weapon of coach Simone Inzaghi.
Inzaghi seems keen to keep Romelu Lukaku with Inter, who are seeking to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2011, and are also locked in a five-way battle in the league for three places in next year's continental competition.
Inzaghi said after the win over Udinese: "Lukaku is improving day by day, we have great faith in Romelu's brilliance.
"He had problems last year in London, we brought him here and then he had a serious injury that bothered him for four months."
"Romelu is a starter in the games, which means he is in good shape."
